Lilts is a collaborative endeavor spearheaded by the talented duo of John Ross and Laura Wolf. Their paths first crossed during a joint tour back in 2017, but it wasn’t until 2021 that they commenced a fruitful exchange of song ideas via email. Both seasoned producers and songwriters, it was a match made in musical heaven. Through this natural process of co-creation, the musical entity known as Lilts came into being.
The track “Waiting Around” serves as the centerpiece of Lilts‘ inaugural EP. It introduces a contemporary twist on the early 90s pop sound, with Laura Wolf’s intimate vocals gracefully complementing the ethereal backdrop of washed-out guitars and intricately arranged drums, all masterminded by John Ross. Within the lyrics, Wolf eloquently shares her inspiration, explaining, “I had this scene in my head of being a wallflower at a party. Dizzy with relief of being on the outskirts but also craving and being disappointed by the lack of connection.
